Starting off hosting Riverview on Wednesday with a 18-5 win, followed by another win hosting Sickles 19-6 on Thursday, then hitting the road on Friday to face highly touted Ponte Vedra in Jacksonville winning 13-12. Game winner scored by 2025 Midfield/Attack Mckenzey Craig (John Hopkins) who also hit the 100-goal milestone earlier in the week.  Closing the week with a 13-11 win over Episcopal School of Jacksonville on Saturday morning.  Probably the toughest stretch of their season until they see some of the out of state teams. The lady Panthers have a firm hold on the #1 spot. Only 2 games this upcoming week, hosting Wharton (4-2) on Wednesday and traveling to Bloomingdale (4-1) on Friday.
  2. Pre-Season

  1. Plant – What a ride the lady Panthers had in 2023! Everything seemed to fall into place at the right time. We thought they were a year away last season. Going 18-4 on the season, winning a district 10 2A title, claiming top seed in region 3 2A, and advancing to the final 4 with an overtime win over rival Steinbrenner 6-5 in the regional final. Their run finally ended with a loss in the state semi final game to eventual state champion Bartram Trail 13-6. The lady Panthers return a very strong group this season, players to watch: senior A/M Reagan Quinn (Catholic University) and juniors A/M Kensey Craig (Johns Hopkins), D/M/A Katie Fisher (Rutgers University), defense Ryann McLeod (University of Colorado), A/M Ashlyn Bell (Radford University) we expect to see them get back to the Final Four. Games of interest, Ponte Verda home on 2/27, Steinbrenner 3/18 on the road, Regis Jesuit (CO) home on 3/19, Olentangy Liberty (OH) home on 3/25, Newsome 3/26 at home, and Centreville (VA) on 3/27 home.
  2. Manatee – The lady Hurricanes went (12-5) on the 2023 Season. They defeated Riverview for the district 11 2A title 18-11 after losing to them 20-15 earlier in the season. Losing in the region 3 2A semifinal to Steinbrenner 17-3 on the road. The lady Hurricanes 2023 Gk Cameron Murphy and attack Penelope May (63 goals, 18 assists) will be missed, but much like Plant, their junior class is very strong. Led by junior midfielder Grace Knowles (78 goals, 16 assists 107 draw controls) we expect them to make another run. May see them face Plant in region 3 final this upcoming season. Games of interest Riverview at home 2/29 and St. Stephen’s on the road 3/7.
  3. Riverview – The lady Rams finished their 2023 season 12-8, with some nice early wins over Manatee (20-15) and Newsome (10-9). Despite losing in the district 11 2A final to Manatee 18-11 they still made it to regional play earning the 5th seed. Losing in the region 3 2A quarter finals to Gulf Coast 13-9. The lady Rams must overcome losing a good 2023 class which included: GK Mia Rey (Bryn Mawr College), attack Clementine Silver-Schwartz (US Lacrosse 2023 Jackie Pitts Award Winner), middies Katie and Emily Hazlett. Although very young the lady Rams still have some top talent returning, players to watch: 2024 middie Susan Lowther (Clemson) and 2025 middie Caroline Steinwachs. Interesting games: at Plant 2/21, at Manatee 2/27, at Vero Beach 3/13 with some out of state teams mixed in. The lady Rams once again have a very challenging schedule. We will see if it pays off for them this season.
  4. Newsome – The lady Wolves finished 2023 season 15-5-1. Losing to Plant in district 10 2A finals 12-6, but still qualifying for region 3 2A playoffs as #6 seed. Their 2023 season came to an end on the road with a tough 10-9 overtime loss to #3 seed Manatee. The lady Wolves graduated only a few seniors and still have a strong core coming into their senior year for this upcoming season. Players to watch: 2024 attack Gracie Ochoa (Mercer), 2024 middie Mimi Walters (George Washington), 2024 middie Mia Proctor (Lindenwood). They also have a coaching change, Garrit Shafrath is taking the helm this season. Games of interest: Lake Highland Prep at home 3/21, at Plant 3/26, at Steinbrenner 3/28. This is the year the lady Wolves can make a run. They could easily be at the top of this poll by the end of the season. Regional playoffs will be exciting and would not be a surprise to see them in region 3 2A finals. Do they have enough to overtake Plant?
  5. Steinbrenner – The lady Warriors went 14-3 for the 2023 season. A great record by any standards for any team but not quite what the lady Warriors expected. Having all their top players in their senior years we expected to see them take another trip to the Final Four. They seemed to be clicking at the right time. That all came to an end with the 6-5 triple overtime loss in the region 3 2A final at Plant. The lady Warriors graduated a tremendous amount of talent that have been playing together for the last 4 seasons. 2023 middie Taylor Lapoint (Northwestern), defense Kaitlyn Price (Brown), defense Kate Prentice (Xavier), D/A Katie and Zoey Lind (St. Leo’s), attack Natalie Jones (St. Leo’s), GK Abby Eash (Stevenson), attack Rori Prilik (Stetson), and attack Carly Grey (Mercyhurst). Last year’s senior class accounted for 220 of the 272 goals scored in 2023 season. May be a rebuilding year for the lady Warriors. Players to watch this season 2025 defense Audrey Wehle (Rollins), 2025 attack Ciena (CeCe) Solis and 2026 Elle Edwards. Games of Interest: Plant at home 3/18 and Newsome at home 3/28.
