Week 2

  1. Plant (5-0) – The lady Panthers keep their perfect record, but they did have a tight road game with Academy of the Holy Names on Friday night, being held under 10 goals for the first time this season. Steinbrenner and Berkeley Prep on the schedule for next week.
  2. Manatee (2-1) – The lady Hurricanes took their first loss of the season to a very good Lakewood Ranch team (need to keep an eye on them) at home on Thursday and closed the week Saturday with a narrow shootout (30 goals scored between the 2 teams) victory. Upcoming week just gets tougher as they host IMG Blue on Tuesday and travel to 1A powerhouse Community School of Naples on Thursday.

Week 1

  1. Plant (2-0) – The lady Panthers seemed to pick up where they left off last season, blanking both Durant and Alonso the opening week.Their offense seems to be just fine as they notched a combined 38 goals. Next week may be more challenging as the travel to Academy of the Holy Names on Friday 20th. One of our games to watch on the week.
  2. Manatee (1-0) – The lady Hurricanes opened the season on Monday with a double-digit win over Parrish Community, but unfortunately their team got struck with the illness that has been going around the area and had to cancel their game against Tampa Catholic on Thursday. They are back in action on Wednesday 18th hosting Lakewood Ranch and traveling to Cardinal Mooney on Saturday 21st at 2pm.
  3. Newsome (0-0) – The lady Wolves will open the 2026 season at home next week Feb 18th against Durant.
  4. Steinbrenner (2-0) – The lady Warriors opened their 2026 season with 2 double-digit road victories last week over Wharton and Durant. Next week may be a great test for them as they host a strong Bishop Moore team on Wednesday 18th and closing the week at Sickles on Friday 20th.
  5. Sickles (1-0) – The lady Gryphons had an eventful opening week as they had to reschedule their game with Robinson due to illness on Monday, but were able to recover enough to defeat Alonso at home on Wednesday. Hopefully they are all fully recovered to host rival Steinbrenner on Friday to close the week.

Pre-Season

  1. Plant – The Plant Panthers are coming off a historic 2025 State Championship season, finishing with a perfect 24-0 record. This achievement served as a fitting farewell to retiring Coach Jayne Chapman. The community remains deeply indebted to her leadership and lasting impact on the sport. A new era begins this year as longtime assistant Marisa Colacino steps into the Head Coach role. She is joined by returning assistant coaches Sydney Drummings and Mike Craig. This experienced staff faces the significant challenge of replacing a massive amount of graduated talent. Last year’s departing seniors accounted for: 312 goals (75% of the team’s total) 529 total points (78% of the team’s offensive production). Despite the roster turnover, the Panthers return a strong core of veteran leaders and rising stars: Malory Carideo (Sr.): defense/midfield (Anderson University), Lily Phillips (Sr.): goalie, Andie Rubin (Jr.): midfield/draw specialist (John Hopkins University), Suri Parker (So.): attack/midfield. Recommended games to watch: at Academy of the Holy Names 2/20, Episcopal School of Jacksonville 3/6, at Newsome (A potential preview of the region 3 final) 3/24, at Bishop Moore 3/27. 2026 expectation: The Panthers are projected to secure the district 11 2A title and are strong contenders to reach the region 3 finals.
  2. Manatee – The Lady Hurricanes finished 2025 with a 13-7 record and #2 seed in region 3 2A playoffs. As predicted by TRL in last year’s preseason poll, the Lady Hurricanes reached the regional 3 2A final, falling to Plant. Like the Plant team, the Lady Hurricanes graduated a ton of talented 2025s that accounted for 91% of the goals scored last season and 88% of total offense (goals and assists). Assistant Coach Kevin Paglino will be taking the helm this year as new Head Coach and has a very challenging schedule for his young team. Games to watch: at Community School of Naples 2/26, at Benjamin 3/13, Roland Park Country (MD) 3/16, Foothill (CA) 3/31 and closing regular season with Ridgewood (NJ) on 4/2. 2026 expectations are runner up for district 11 2A and expected to reach region 3 playoffs. This could be a rebuilding year for this young team.
  3. Newsome The Lady Wolves finished 13-5 last season and were #3 seed in region 3 playoffs eventually falling to Manatee in the region 3 semi final. This is yet another team in our top 5 that is going through a coaching change (nothing new for this team). Erin Ebert has moved on to join the staff at University of Tampa and former player Danielle Brickhaus is taking the reins this year. The Lady Wolves graduated stellar goalie Macy Clay along with other talented seniors, but they have plenty of talented players (see TLRs 2026 Players to Watch List) on their roster for 2026 and may be the team on the rise this season. Games to watch this season are: @ Lake Mary 2/26, Episcopal School of Jacksonville 3/7, 1A State Champions Lake Highland Prep 3/11, and possible preview of the 2026 region 3 final – Plant on 3/24. This may be the year that the Lady Wolves advance to the state final four.
  4. Steinbrenner The Lady Warriors were 12-6 last season and were 7th seed in region 3 playoffs losing to Manatee in the regional quarter finals. Top goal scorer, senior Midfielder Elle Edwards (UNC Charlotte), will be leading the way. Along with host of young talented players, they may make district 11 more competitive this upcoming season. Games to watch this season: Bishop Moore 2/18, Plant 2/26, Newsome on 3/4, and 2025 regional quarter final rematch with Manatee on 3/11. Big influx of freshman talent may push this team back into contention.
  5. Sickles Another great year for the Lady Gryphons, going 14-6 under new head coach Morgan Basler and getting 4th seed in region 3 playoffs. The 4th team in district 11 to go to regional 3 playoffs, but ending their season in region 3 quarter finals getting knocked off by Riverview. Losing top goal scoring midfielder Alexa DeSart to graduation is going to have some impact but they still have senior midfielder Peyton Ordeman (Embry-Riddle) who was a close 2nd in scoring along with draw specialist junior Keira Lupis to lead the team this upcoming season. Games to watch: Steinbrenner on 2/20, Plant on 3/3, Newsome on 3/9, and interesting matchup with DC powerhouse National Cathedral on 3/25.
