Final Poll

  1. Berkeley Prep (9-6) – Listed at #2 this whole season, the lady Bucs earned their spot at #1 with 2 comfortable wins in District 10 1A playoffs. Starting on Tuesday with 19-5 win over #3 Seed Robinson in the Semifinal game. Then knocking off #1 Seed Academy of the Holy Names 18-9 on Thursday to claim the District 10 1A Title. This game was much closer than the final score only 5-4 at half. The lady Bucs did an outstanding job on the draw circle winning the majority of the draws and Senior Ashley Quinn had a huge 9 goal game to help secure the District 10 1A Title. The second consecutive District Title for the lady Bucs. The lady Bucs are the 4th seed in Regional Playoffs and will host #5 seed and District 11 1A Runner up St. Stephen’s (12-2) on Tuesday 4/19 at 7pm. Definitely a game to watch. St. Stephen’s was ranked in the top 10 in FHSAA 1A for most of the season, they are very good on the draw, and have a bunch of young talented goal scorers led by sophomores Ashling Marshall (42 goals), Bella Rosa (43 goals) and Sienna Cassella (42 goals). The lady Bucs seem to be hitting their stride at the right time so this should be an interesting game.
  2. Academy of Holy Names (10-6) – The District 10 1A #1 Seed dropped a spot this week after winning a hard-fought Semifinal game on Tuesday 16-14 with #4 seed Tampa Catholic.  Then losing in the District Finals on Thursday 18-9 to an energized Berkeley Prep.  Academy’s goalkeeper Allie Ragano was outstanding with 16 saves keeping the Jags in the game. Despite keeping it close throughout the game, the lady Jags could not answer the 9-1 goal run by the lady Bucs in the final 10 minutes. Good news for the lady Jags as they are still in the hunt claiming the 6th seed in Regional Playoffs. They will travel to #3 Seed St. Pete Catholic (13-2) on Tuesday 4/19. We will see if the lady Jags can shake off the Spring Break rust.
  3. St. Pete Catholic (13-2) – The lady Barons are District 9 1A Champions. Winning their first district title in program history. They were #1 Seed in District 9 1A playoffs and definitely lived up to their billing. Starting on Tuesday with a 11-7 district Semifinal victory over 4th Seed Northeast. St. Pete Catholic’s Sophomore Jocelyn led all scorers with 5 goals and 3 assists. The lady Barons won the District 9 1A Title on Thursday night with an 11-8 over #2 Seed Calvary Christian. The lady Barons will be making their first regional appearance on Tuesday 4/19 hosting the lady Jaguars from Academy of the Holy Names (10-6) at 7 pm.
  4. Robinson (7-6) – The lady Knights went into the District 10 1A Playoffs as the #3 Seed as well as holding a top ranking for FHSAA Regionals. Unfortunately, their 19-5 Semifinal loss was the last game of the season for the lady Knights. Despite having a good regional ranking, both Barron Collier (11-6) and Community School of Naples (8-10) jumped past them to take the final 2 at-large spots for Region 3.
  5. Calvary Christian (11-6) – The lady Warriors jump back into the top 5 after their 10-7 District 9 1A Semifinal win over #3 Seed St. Petersburg on Tuesday. They came up a little short on Thursday’s District 9 1A final losing to #1 Seed St. Pete Catholic 11-8. This is another area team that was looking to go on to regional play only to find out on Saturday that Barron Collier (11-6) and Community School of Naples (8-10) jumped past them in the final rankings. A lot of head scratching going on over these rankings. It would be interesting to hear from FHSAA on this.

  5. St. Petersburg (10-4) – Another 2 victories for the lady Green Devils to close out the season with 11-4 victory over Palm Harbor University on Tuesday and 9-4 over Pasco on Friday both on the road. 2. Berkeley Prep (3-0) – The lady Bucs played one game this week beating Freedom 21-0 on the road Thursday night. Good thing the lady Bucs are well rested. This upcoming week gets much tougher as they take on District 10 Rival Academy of the Holy Names (1-2) on Tuesday and powerhouse Newsome (3-2) on Thursday both at home. This week will determine if the lady Bucs can take top spot in 1A.
  3. Robinson (1-3) – Tough week for the lady Knights as the faced the top teams in 1A and 2A. Losing at home to both 18-9 to Academy on Tuesday and 17-4 to Steinbrenner on Thursday. Could be a rough week for the lady Coyotes.

Week 1

  1. Academy of Holy Names (0-1) – Surprising 13-9 home opening loss to Riverview on Monday despite an 8-point (7 goal 1 assist) performance from Jr Attack Lauren Brown (Vanderbilt) and 14 save night from Sophomore Goalkeeper Allie Ragano. Looking to see how the lady Jags bounce back. Upcoming week will be a much bigger test as they face a strong Robinson (1-1) away on Tuesday 22nd and very good Plant (2-0) at home on Thursday 24th. This week may determine if the lady Jags stay at the top spot in 1A.
  2. Berkeley Prep (2-0) – Comfortable wins over Alonso 19-4 at home on Tuesday and 21-4 at Osceola were not much of an indicator for movement in this poll. Only 1 game on the schedule for next week vs Freedom (0-1) away. Do not expect much to change until March 1st match up with Academy.
  3. Robinson (1-1) – Opening with 14-6 home loss to Plant shows the lady Knights are looking to compete for a district title this season. Thursday night was much easier as they cruised to an 18-4 win over Alonso. Sr Attack Kela Watts (Swarthmore) is one of the point leaders for week 1. Very tough upcoming week with Academy of the Holy Names (0-1) at home on Tuesday 22nd followed by powerhouse Steinbrenner (2-0) on Thursday 24th at home. Both games will be a good indicator if they are a legitimate contender in 1A.
  4. Calvary Christian (2-1) – The lady Warriors opened the season with a 13-2 home win over Clearwater Central Catholic on Tuesday followed by a surprising 11-7 away win over D5 top team Cypress Creek on Thursday. Calvary Christian dropped the Friday night week home closer to Manatee 13-4. Win over Cypress Creek jumps them up a spot this week. Upcoming games on Tuesday 22nd to Lakeland (1-0) at home then on the road on Thursday 24th to face Tampa Catholic (0-2).
  5. Cypress Creek (1-1) – Great start to the season with a big 25-6 away win over Wesley Chapel. Followed by a close 11-7 home loss to Calvary Christian on Thursday, which dropped them down a spot in our poll. Upcoming games this week at home on Wednesday 23rd vs Sickles (0-2) and Pasco (0-2) away on Friday 25th. Sickles game will be the toughest, they played the top 2 teams in 2A in opening week and we are sure they are looking to get back in to the winning column in a big way.

Pre-Season

  1. Academy of Holy Names – 11-3 in 2021. This could be the best team the Lady Jags have ever had. Losing only 2 seniors, the Lady Jags have plenty of talent all the way thru to make a long run if they can get past Berkeley Prep in Districts. Led by 2022 TRL Watch-listers Sr. Mid/Draw Specialist Sophia Pyne (Holy Cross) and Jr. Attack Lauren Brown (Vanderbilt), the Lady Jags will get their first real test against Plant at home on Feb 22nd to see if they could be one of the top teams in the area this season. Another game of interest is March 1st vs Berkeley on the road – will be a game to watch.
  2. Berkeley Prep – 11-4 in 2021 the Lady Bucs captured their first district title as well as a first-round regional win over St. Stephen’s Episcopal. Their 2021 season came to an end with a close 16-15 road loss to Community School of Naples in the regional final. It will be hard for the Lady Bucs to replace the stellar 2021 Midfielder Justyce Barber (William and Mary), but they still have plenty of talent with Sr. Midfielder Anabelle Stifler (Swarthmore) and Junior D/M Finley Jordan – both on TLR 2022 Watchlist. We are looking forward to their home March 1st matchup with Academy of the Holy Names to see who will take top seed in District 10 1A.
  3. Cypress Creek – 15-5 in 2021 – ran in to a tough matchup in regional play facing State Runner-Up Lake Highland Prep. Although the Lady Coyotes Lost some great senior talent, they still have plenty of talented players to repeat as District 5 1A Champions for 2022. Talented player and Mount Olive commit Attack Avery Smith (82 goals scored in 2021) should lead them in goals scored again in 2022. IMG Academy on Saturday Feb 19th on the road should be a good test for them.
  4. Robinson – 8-10 in 2021. District finalist losing to Berkeley Prep 18-6. The Lady Knights have a talented group of returning 2022 TLR Watchlist Players: Sr. goalkeeper Jessie Ruffue and Sr. Attack Kela Watts (Swarthmore) will help them challenge for a district 10 1A title. Kudos to Coach Crooks for opening with Plant at home on Feb 15th. It will be a tough test for them.
  5. Calvary Christian – 6-6 in 2021 the Lady Warriors were the only team to stay in District 9 1A from last season. Losing stellar Sr. goal keeper Maggie Wroe to graduation is going to be tough to overcome, but they did pick up East Lake Junior Lauren Holthaus. This could be the year that the lady Warriors get their first district title. The Lady Warriors are testing themselves early with a road game vs Cypress Creek on Feb 17th.
