After Districts (Final Poll)

  1. Berkeley Prep (9-3) – The lady Bucs did not disappoint this season, capturing their very first district title in program history. As the host of District 9 playoffs and holding 2nd seed, they won both of their games by a comfortable margin – beating Academy of the Holy Names on Tuesday 14-8 in the district semi-final and winning the District 9 title with an 18-6 win over a tough Robinson team. The lady Bucs move on to the first round of regional play on Thursday 4/22 to face the young and talented District 10 winner St. Stephen’s on the road.

St. Stephen’s (9-2) – The Lady Falcons held the #1 Seed for District 10 playoffs and went straight to the District 10 final with a first round bye, beating Out-of-Door Academy 9-6 in a close district final to capture the District 10 title. 3. Academy of the Holy Names (11-3) – The lady Jags played 2 playoff games last week – beating Freedom on Monday night 18-1 at home, then losing to Berkeley Prep 14-8 in the District 9 Semi-Final on Tuesday night. Great season for the lady Jags with their only loss coming from the top teams in the area. They will be a team to watch in 2022.
  4. Robinson (8-10) – The lady Knights deserve to be in this poll with their fantastic play in District 9 playoffs. They beat #4 seed Calvary Christian in the first round of playoffs Monday night 8-5 on the road, then knocked off #1 seed Tampa Catholic 8-7 in OT on Tuesday in the district semi-final. In the district final on Thursday, the lady Knights were tied with Berkeley Prep 5-5 at half, but all the tough games during the week seemed to catch up with them in the second half as Berkeley Prep outscored them 13-1, eventually winning 18-6.
  5. Cypress Creek (15-4) – The lady Coyotes take the 5th spot in our poll this week with their 11-10 come-from-behind victory over a tough Lake Wales team in the District 5 final. Down 9-5 at half, the lady Coyotes scored 6 goals to Lake Wales‘ 1 in the second half to capture the District 5 title. 4. Tampa Catholic (12-2) – Spring Break was not kind to the Lady Crusaders, losing both games last week. Dropping them 2 spots in our poll. Losing 16-13 on Wednesday 4/7 to St. Stephen’s (7-2) at home and closing out regular season on the road at Barron Collier (6-5) losing 18-13. Good news for the Crusaders as they did secure 1st seed which gives them a first round bye for District 9 playoffs. They will play the winner of Calvary Christian vs Robinson on Tuesday 7pm in the District 9 Semi Final.
  5. Calvary Christian (5-2) – The Lady Warriors take the 5th spot this week with their 12-10 home win over Cardinal Mooney on Thursday. They have secured #4 seed for District 9 Playoffs and will host #5 seed Robinson on Monday for the chance to face Tampa Catholic on Tuesday in the Semi-Finals.

The Lady Jags show only 2 more games remaining on their schedule – a home game vs Cardinal Mooney (6-3-1) on Monday night 3/29 and away vs Osceola (2-6) on Wednesday 3/31.
  4. St. Stephen’s (7-2) – The Lady Falcons won one and lost one this week. Beating district 10 opponent Out-of-Door Academy (4-5) at home 14-8 on Monday 3/22, winning both of the home and away games this season. We are sure they will see each other again in district playoffs.  Their second game of the week on Thursday 3/25 had them hosting the 13-0 Community School of Naples and losing 16-11. The Lady Falcons have only one game remaining on their schedule: 4/7 @ Tampa Catholic (10-0). Should be a great game.

Week 5

  1. Berkeley Prep (5-1) – The Lady Bucs are still #1. This week’s game vs Tampa Catholic was cancelled due to weather like many games on Thursday. The Bucs have Spring Break this upcoming week and a tough game vs IMG on Tuesday March 30th when they come back.
  2. Tampa Catholic (8-0) – The Lady Crusaders only played one game last week – Tuesday night at Sarasota winning 16-4. The match up with Berkeley Prep (5-1) was cancelled. Busy week next week for the Lady Crusaders as they travel to Cardinal Mooney (5-2-1) on Monday night and play back-to-back district games at Freedom (0-4) Wednesday and Calvary Christian (2-5) on Thursday.
  3. Academy of the Holy Names (6-2) – The Lady Jaguars jump a couple spots with their 13-12 home win over St. Stephen’s on Tuesday which ended up being the only game they played last week. If the Bucs win that game, they will have a firm hold on the top seed in district 9.
  2. Tampa Catholic (7-0) – The Lady Crusaders were on the road last week beating Windermere Prep (3-2) on Monday afternoon 16-5, then facing Sunlake (4-2) on Wednesday night winning 13-5. The rival game scheduled for Friday night vs Academy of the Holy Names had to be rescheduled. This upcoming week the Lady Crusaders will be on the road again playing Sarasota (1-6) on Tuesday 3/16 then taking on #1 Berkeley Prep (5-1) on Thursday 3/18. Big week for the Crusaders.
  3. St. Stephen’s (5-0) – The Lady Falcons notched 2 more wins this week and moved up a couple spots. They beat Manatee (0-3) Monday night 15-5 on the road, then faced district 10 opponent Out of Door Academy on the road, winning a 11-9. Next week the Lady Falcons face a tough Academy of the Holy Names (5-2) on Tuesday 3/16 away, then close out the week with St. Pete Catholic (5-1) on Thursday 3/18 away. It will be an interesting week for the Lady Falcons.
  4. Cypress Creek (8-1) – The Lady Coyotes suffered their first loss last week in an 8-7 tightly contested game vs Sickles (2-4) at home. They had another close one later in the week with Lake Wales (4-2) on Thursday winning 12-10. The Coyotes are off for spring break next week. Another loss could send the Lady Coyotes out of this poll as teams start facing more like opponents.
  5. Academy of the Holy Names (5-2) – Welcome to the top 5 Lady Jaguars! AHN beat Freedom (0-4) on Tuesday 21-1 at home during week 3. The rival game vs Tampa Catholic on Friday night 3/12 had to be rescheduled. With another loss by ODA and Cypress Creek’s loss to Sickles, it was time for the Lady Jaguars to get in this poll. They have only 2 losses, both to top teams in the area. This week they will take on #3 St. Stephen’s (5-0) on Tuesday 3/16. Big chance for them to move up in this poll.

Week 3

  1. Berkeley Prep (4-0) – The Lady Bucs played two District 9 opponents this week. Traveling to a good Academy of the Holy Names team (3-1) winning 19-7 and keeping their offense under 10 points then traveling to Calvary Christian (1-4) on Friday 3/5 and winning 17-3. Upcoming home games next week: district 9 opponent Robinson (4-1) on Tuesday 3/9 and Community School of Naples (7-0) on Friday 3/12. We expect the lady Bucs to be holding this spot for some time.
  2. Tampa Catholic (5-0) – The Lady Crusaders move up a couple spots this week. Knocking off #2, Out of Door Academy at home on Tuesday 3/2 with a close 14-13 last minute win. The Barron Collier game scheduled for Friday 3/5 has to be moved to later in the season. This upcoming week the lady Crusaders play three games starting Monday 3/8 at Windermere Prep (3-2), then traveling to Sunlake (4-2) on Wednesday 3/10, and finishing with our Game of the Week on Friday 3/12 vs rival Academy of the Holy Names (4-2) at home.
  3. Cypress Creek (7-0) – The Lady Coyotes had another big week of offense winning all three of their games with a combined score of 41-8, moving them up a couple spots. Their week started off with a 7-3 close win at Lakewood Ranch (4-1) on Monday 3/1, then winning 15-4 vs Land O’ Lakes (3-2) on Wednesday 3/3, and 19-1 vs Lake Gibson (0-3) on Thursday 3/4 both at home to close out the week. The Lady Coyotes will face Sickles (2-4) on Monday 3/8 at home and travel to Lake Wales (3-2) on Thursday 3/11.
  4. Out-of-Door (0-3) – The Lady Thunder played two games this week. Although they lost both games, the teams they played were both undefeated. We still need to see some more games from this team. We are almost halfway through the season and the Lady Thunder have only played 3 games. The Thunder play only 1 game next week vs a talented Riverview (2-3). That game will determine if the Lady Thunder stay in our top 5.
  5. St. Stephen’s (3-0) – Welcome to the top 5 Lady Falcons! Big 17-9 win this week vs district 10 rival Cardinal Mooney (2-1) at home jumped them into our poll this week. District 10 teams have not played many games, so with no like opponents it is difficult to gauge where they truly stand. Next week the Lady Falcons face only Manatee (0-3) on Monday 3/8. We don’t expect them to lose but they will be facing a hungry Academy of the Holy Names the following week who have been ready to jump into this poll.

Week 2

  1. Berkeley Prep (2-0) – The lady Bucs have yet to play a home game and were on the road again this week to take on Riverview (0-2) on Friday 26th winning 15-8.  Berkeley will stay on the road next week to face 2 District 9 opponents; the high scoring Academy of the Holy Names (3-1) on Tuesday 3/2 and Calvary Christian (1-4) on Friday 3/5 night. Tuesday’s game vs Academy will be one to watch.
  2. Out-of-Door (0-1) – The Lady Thunder were idle last week, but will play 2 games this upcoming week.  Tampa Catholic (4-0) on Tuesday 3/2 away and Community School of Naples (4-0) at home on Friday 3/5.  Two tough games for the Lady Thunder will give us a good indicator if they will stay in this spot.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (2-1) – The Lady Cougars made a nice recovery picking up 2 wins last week; 12-3 over Sarasota (1-3) at home on Tuesday 2/23 and then following up with a 13-12 narrow victory over 2A Lakewood Ranch (4-1) on the road Thursday 2/25. Mooney will play 2 games next week – St. Stephen’s (2-0) at home on Tuesday 3/2 and a high scoring Canterbury (2-0) on the road Friday night 3/5.
  4. Tampa Catholic (4-0) – The Lady Crusaders played 2 games last week. In a rainy last second 14-13 victory over Riverview (0-1) on the road Monday 2/22. Then playing their first District 9 opponent Robinson (3-0) and winning 8-5 at home. Tampa Catholic has 2 games this upcoming week. Taking on Out-of-Door (0-1) at home Tuesday 3/2.  Then traveling to Naples on Friday to take on Barron Collier (3-2).  More tough games for the Crusaders.
  5. Cypress Creek (4-0) – The Lady Coyotes had a great week with 2 big victories. 16-0 home shut out over District 5 opponent Pasco (0-2) on Monday 2/22 and 19-5 over River Ridge (0-1) on the road Tuesday 2/23. Cypress Creek has been pouring on the offense in the first 2 weeks, outscoring opponents 69-13. This upcoming week the lady Coyotes will play 3 games. Lakewood Ranch (4-1) on Monday 3/1, Land O’ Lakes (2-2) on Wednesday 3/3, and finishing up with Lake Gibson (0-2) on Thursday 3/4. Lakewood Ranch on Monday should be an interesting game and a good gauge of where this team is.

Week 1

  1. Berkeley Prep (1-0) – The Bucs defeated Out of Door Academy 16-8 on the road in week 1. This is the only game the Lady Bucs had this week. Their next game is at Riverview on Friday, February 26.
  2. Out-of-Door (0-1) – ODA’s only game was a loss to top ranked Berkeley Prep. The Lady Thunder will not play again until March 2 vs Tampa Catholic. We need to see more games to determine if ODA can hold this spot.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (0-1) – Mooney suffered a 12-8 week 1 loss to Venice. Cardinal Mooney plays only one game next week against an undefeated Lakewood Ranch team on Thursday the 25th.  This should be an good indicator to determine if the Lady Cougars can stay in this poll.
  4. Tampa Catholic (2-0) – TC played 2 games this week, winning both. First against a tough East Lake team 10-6 and then a 17-2 home victory over Orlando-based Lake Howell. Some tough games coming up this week for the Lady Crusaders as they travel to Riverview on Monday 22nd and see district opponent Robinson at home on Thursday 25th.
  5. Cypress Creek (2-0) – The Lady Coyotes started the season with 2 district wins – 15-8 over Wesley Chapel on the road and a home shutout over Discovery 15-0. Only 1 game on the schedule for next week and it’s against 0-1 River Ridge on Tuesday 23rd.

Pre-Season

  1. Berkeley Prep – Berkeley girls are another team with a coaching change, but still have the majority of their team from the 2020 season. We consider this team to be the best in 1A. This is a very talented roster.
  2. Out-of-Door – This was a tough decision. There were a lot of teams that could have been placed in this spot. Based on some of the wins the Lady Thunder had in 2020, we feel they earned this spot. Let’s see if they can hold it.
  3. Cardinal Mooney – 6-1 overall last season with their only loss coming from Out-of-Door. Like their boys squad, the Mooney girls play hard and well in every game.
  4. Tampa Catholic – 3-1 in district play (6-2 overall) in 2020. Their single district loss was to a very tough Berkeley team. Those two teams are in the same district, so they’ll likely see each other twice in 2021.
  5. Cypress Creek – The Lady Coyotes finished 6-2 in 2020 and outscored their opponents 116—58. They obviously have talent and will be returning a lot of players.
