Week 4

  1. Berkeley Prep (6-3) – The lady Bucs went 1-1 as we predicted this week with a 17-6 win over Robinson on the road as well as 15-9 road loss to IMG Academy. With the win over Robinson, the Berkeley girls are a perfect 6-0 in District 9 play and hold #1 Seed. They are clearly our #1 in 1A in our area.
  2. Out-of-Door (3-3) – The lady Thunder answered the question of who the clear #2 in 1A is with a 18-11 victory over District 10 rival Cardinal Mooney on the road. With only 1 District 10 game remaining vs St. Stephen’s (2-3) they should hold #1 Seed. They could see Berkeley in first round of Regionals if both teams win their districts.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (6-1) – The lady Cougars experienced their first blemish of the season with a tough 18-11 home loss to District 10 rival Out-of-Door Academy. They did bounce back later in the week with a 18-8 home win over District 9 Calvary Christian (4-4). Having played all their District 10 games it appears the lady Cougars will hold #2 seed in a 3 team District 10. We feel they will get another shot at ODA in District 10 Finals.
  4. Tampa Catholic (6-2) – The lady Crusaders rolled off 2 more District 9 wins this week with home victories over Calvary Christian 13-6 on Tuesday and finishing with 18-1 win over Freedom on Thursday. With a 3-1 District 9 record they look good to finish in top 4 for District 9 playoffs. The lady Crusaders still have 2 tough district opponents left to play: Robinson (4-3) who are 1-2 in district play and rival Academy of the Holy Names (4-2) who are 2-1 in the district.
  5. Academy of the Holy Names (4-2) – The lady Jags held up to our predictions for last week with 2 comfortable wins: 18-2 on the road over Freedom and 19-4 home victory over Clearwater Central Catholic. The Academy girls are 2-1 in district play with Robinson and Tampa Catholic still left to play. Still some games to be played to determine #2, 3 and 4 spots in District 9.

Week 3

  1. Berkeley Prep (5-2) – With a big 19-8 road win over District 9 rival Tampa Catholic, the lady Bucs have seem to have clinched #1 seed in the district, going 5-0. Robinson 4-2 (1-1 in D9) is the only district opponent left to play. The lady Bucs did take a 11-2 loss to Steinbrenner later in the week showing that 1A is not quite up with the top talent of 2A yet. Two games this week should not change top position in 1A for the lady Bucs. Traveling to Robinson on Tuesday then IMG on Thursday which could leave them at 6-3 by weeks end.
  2. Out-of-Door (2-2) – Only one game played last week – a 14-5 loss to Naples. Big District 10 matchup at Cardinal Mooney on March 10th will determine #1 seed. Can the lady Thunder hold on to #2 position? We will definitely find out after Tuesday night’s must-see game.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (5-0) – Only one game played last week with comfortable (20-7) win over District 10 rival St. Stephen’s. Big week for the lady Cougars as they play for #1 Seed in District 10 hosting the lady Thunder of ODA on Tuesday night. Should be a great game. Could see a swap of #2 and #3 in 1A.
  4. Tampa Catholic (4-2) – Early week (19-8) loss to #1 Berkeley Prep shows the lady Crusaders have a lot of work to do to be ready to challenge for top seed in District 9. Back to back road wins over Jefferson and Lake Howell have them back on track. Three games coming up this week; Calvary Christian, Freedom and Mitchell. It will be a challenging week for the Lady Crusaders. 3 spots are still up for grabs in District 9 1A seeding. Will be an interesting next few weeks.
  5. Academy of the Holy Names (2-2) – No games played due to yearly mission trip. Games coming up with District 9 opponent Freedom (0-4) and independent Clearwater Central Catholic. It should be a good week to get back into the flow for the Lady Jags, we expect them to win both comfortably and see them at 4-2 by weeks end.

Week 2

  1. Berkeley Prep (3-1) – Berkeley Prep girls still hold #1 as we predicted, easily dispatching 2 of their District 9 opponents (Jefferson and Academy of the Holy Names) last week. The lady Bucs have 3 game this upcoming week: @ Tampa Catholic (2-1) on Tuesday, hosting Calvary Christian on Friday, and home against the young guns of Steinbrenner on Saturday afternoon. We do not see Berkeley getting knocked off #1 spot next week. The game with Steinbrenner is very intriguing and will be well worth watching.
  2. Out-of-Door (2-1) – The Lady Thunder held #2 winning both home games played last week (15-13 over Manatee and 12-6 over Lakewood Ranch). Big game on Monday, March 3rd coming up with top ranked Newsome (4-1), St Pete Catholic (2-1) on Wednesday, and finishing up hosting Naples (2-1) on Friday night. Monday’s game will definitely be interesting to see how they stand up to TLR #1 2A Newsome.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (4-0) – The resilient Mooney girls keep finding ways win the close games with 2 road victories last week: 16-14 over Lakewood Ranch on Tuesday and 13-11 over Tampa Catholic on Saturday afternoon. Only 1 game on the schedule this upcoming week vs St. Stephen’s on the road. Matchup with Out-of-Door at home on March 10th should be their next test. We expect to have the lady Cougars remain undefeated next week.
  4. Tampa Catholic (2-1) – The lady Crusaders only played 1 game last week, losing to a determined Cardinal Mooney team on Saturday afternoon 13-11 at home. Big upcoming home this week vs TLR #1 and District 9 rival Berkeley Prep (3-1) on Tuesday night. Then traveling to Lake Howell (2-1) Friday night to end the week. Still not sure where this team will fall this early but should know more after next week.
  5. Academy of the Holy Names (2-2) – Lady Jaguars had 3 games scheduled but only were able to play 2 due to poor weather on Wednesday night. Winning Monday night @ St. Petersburg 19-9 and losing 18-7 @ #1 Berkeley Prep on Friday. This is another team we need to see more of to get a feel where they will fall. No games next week for the Lady Jaguars. Enjoy your break ladies!

Week 1

  1. Berkeley Prep (1-1) – Berkeley has risen over the last 2 years as their younger players are starting to really flourish. They played Newsome (our #1 in 2A) and held their own. We think this team will be dominant in 1A. Academy of the Holy Names may test them a bit but we do not think they will have a loss next week.
  2. Out-of-Door (0-1) – Only one game played this week; a loss to talented 2A Riverview. Two games coming up this week: Manatee and Lakewood Ranch. We should not see movement this week.
  3. Cardinal Mooney (2-0) – Mooney girls had a strong week beating Academy of the Holy Names at home 13-10 then following up with a 10-6 victory over new program Sarasota on the road. Three real challenging games coming up this week: Lakewood Ranch away, Venice home and Tampa Catholic away should really tell us if they are staying in Top 5.
  4. Tampa Catholic (2-0) – The Lady Crusaders ran into a much improved Bartow team earlier in the week but still managed to win both of their games very comfortably. Match up with rival Academy of the Holy Names coming up on Wednesday the 26th will be their first real test this season followed by Cardinal Mooney on Saturday 29th. Both upcoming games will determine if the Crusaders hold their spot.
  5. Academy of the Holy Names (1-1) – Opening week had the Lady Jaguars on the road at Cardinal Mooney losing 13-10 followed by a big win over Jefferson 23-1 at home. Big week coming up facing rival Tampa Catholic (2-0) and power house Berkeley Prep (1-1). These 2 games will quickly determine seeding for District 9. Stay tuned.
