Week 3
- Jesuit (4-1) – The Tigers easily handled Calvary Christian last week, but their big matchup against IMG got postponed due to weather. Next week, Jesuit first hosts Berkeley Prep, then is on the road to a very strong Bishop Moore team.
- Cardinal Mooney (4-2) – Mooney ‘escaped’ with a single-goal win against Sarasota to begin week 3, but then dropped their game to Riverview by 10. It’s hard to gauge where the Cardinal Mooney team is right now. Next week should give us a better picture as they host Lakewood Ranch and Newsome.
- Berkeley Prep (4-3) – The Buccaneers were on the road for both games last week, losing to both Plant and Lakewood Ranch. It certainly doesn’t get any easier in week 4 when Berkeley will travel to TLR #1 Jesuit, then host a very solid Mitchell squad.
- Osceola (4-1) – Osceola is another team that TLR is having trouble pinpointing. We moved them down a single spot due to their loss to a Palm Harbor team that Berkeley beat by 8. Osceola hosts East Lake next week, then travels to a very strong Manatee team.
- Calvary Christian (0-5) – While we keep Calvary on our list at #5 at 0-5, TLR does recognize that – right now – there just isn’t another 1A team that can be slotted above them. (LaxNumbers has Calvary above Osceola right now) Tampa Prep is doing well, but their strength of schedule is very low, especially when compared with Calvary’s. The Warriors host PHU, The First Academy, and Countryside next week. They could use a win or two.
Week 2
- Jesuit (3-1) – The Tigers earned an 11-8 win over Harrison (GA) to start week 2, but then dropped their big home matchup against state powerhouse Saint Andrew’s 8-15. While the score differential may be a slight surprise, it would be hard to find anyone telling you the same thing about the outcome. Iron sharpens iron, and Jesuit knows this. That’s what this game was for. Next week, Jesuit travels to TLR #5 Calvary Christian, then hosts IMG. Tampa Lax Report doesn’t see poll movement on the radar for Jesuit any time soon.
- Cardinal Mooney (3-1) – The Cougars booked wins against both Calvary Christian and Bishop Verot last week. They earned a lift on this poll. Mooney will be on the road next week. They first travel to Sarasota, then to Riverview. We expect them to hold onto this spot following week 3 games.
- Osceola (3-0) – Osceola earned two more wins last week by taking down Indian Rocks Christian and St. Petersburg fairly easily. They may even be set up for more wins in the following few games – until March 6th, when they travel to a very hot Manatee team.
- Berkeley Prep (4-1) – The Buccaneers earned three convincing wins last week: on the road against Palm Harbor University, then at home against Northside Christian and Robinson. Next week looks a bit tougher as Berkeley travels to TLR #1 Plant, then to Lakewood Ranch.
- Calvary Christian (0-4) – It’s been a rough start to 2026 for the Warriors. But it has also been a very tough schedule as well. Last week, Calvary hosted TLR #2 Cardinal Mooney, but lost 8-6. They then travelled to Manatee and dropped that game by 13 points. Their next game is against TLR #1 Jesuit, so it won’t get easier for them quite yet.
Week 1
- Jesuit (2-0) – Jesuit began with an impressive 18-1 win against Riverview and an 11-10 win against a surprisingly tough Manatee team. It’s early in the season, so TLR isn’t ready to gauge whether Jesuit isn’t as strong as we thought or that Manatee is perhaps stronger than we thought. The Tigers host Georgia’s Harrison on Monday and Boca Raton’s Saint Andrew’s on Friday. Both should be attended if you can make it.
- Calvary Christian (0-2) – The Warriors, as we noted in our pre-season poll, have a very tough schedule in the beginning of this season. They dropped their first two games; first against IMG, then against Mitchell. It doesn’t get easier for Calvary next week as they face Cardinal Mooney, then Manatee – a team that lost to Jesuit by 1. Still early to hit the panic button, but it is a slightly rough start for them.
- Cardinal Mooney (1-1) – Mooney split their two games to begin the season, beating Berkeley Prep but dropping their game against Bishop Moore by 11. They could move up in our polls next week by beating Calvary Christian on the road on February 17th. They then host Bishop Verot on the 20th.
- Osceola (0-0) – Osceola has yet to play a game this season. Their first two games are at home next week as they face Cypress Creek and Indian Rocks Christian.
- Berkeley Prep (1-1) – The Buccaneers dropped their season opener on the road against Cardinal Mooney by 3, but bounced back for their home opener with a 12-5 win over Riverview. Next week, Berkeley hosts Northside Christian and Robinson.
Pre-Season
- Jesuit – Jesuit graduated 11 seniors from last year’s team, but as we’ve said before, the numbers of lost players due to graduation doesn’t seem to matter to the top programs (Jesuit, Plant, etc.) in our area. The Tigers have been at the top of this list and likely will continue to be until another program can match their talent – and TLR isn’t expecting that just yet. Their first big test will come early when they host long-time state powerhouse Saint Andrew’s on February 20th. But as always, local lacrosse fans should circle March 27th for their rivalry game against Plant, which will take place at Plant High School this year.
- Calvary Christian – With 23 players on this year’s team either a senior or junior, the Warriors are certainly not a young team. A new head coach with a new feel for the program may shake things up a little, but Calvary Christian is still expected to perform well against solid teams. They begin out-of-the-gate with their first five games being against IMG, Mitchell, Cardinal Mooney, Manatee, and Jesuit. If Calvary can win 3 of these games, it would show everyone that they belong in the conversation.
- Cardinal Mooney – The Cougars will be missing 12 seniors from their very good 2025 squad and have a new head coach this season, but like most good programs, will find a way to get the most of their players. Mooney has proved this year after year. It’s not a walk-in-the-park for the Cougars at the start of the season as they will face Bishop Moore on 2/13, Calvary Christian on 2/17, and Bishop Verot on 2/20. The rest of their schedule looks grueling as well.
- Osceola – Losing 10 seniors from 2025, many might expect Osceola to be facing a rebuilding year. Instead, this year’s squad shows 20(!) seniors. However, only 13 are returning lacrosse players. The Warriors will likely perform at or near their 2025 levels, so expect them in the hunt for another district title in 2026. Their first big contest may be at Manatee on 3/6, but they will host Calvary Christian on 3/24 as well. Neither game should be easy.
- Berkeley Prep – The Buccaneers only graduated 3 seniors from last year, but one – Owen Watts – will be extremely difficult to replace. This team is also without two major players due to season-ending injuries. With a younger squad in 2026 and some holes in a few areas yet to be solidified, Berkeley may see a minor drop-off from last year. They begin this season with two tough games: on the road at Cardinal Mooney on 2/10, then hosting Riverview three days later.
