District 14: Pre-Season Predictions

1 – Newsome

Newsome has enjoyed being the top dog in this district for quite some time now. They lost some great talent at the end of 2017 and even more (13 seniors) at the end of last season, so if someone else in this district has the talent to step up, this is the season it could happen. Coach Blackburn doesn’t sound too worried, stating, “Losing this many players is nothing new for us and we are excited for the season.” The week 1 game against Bloomingdale will be an early test for both squads.

2 – Bloomingdale

Tampa Lax Report expects district 14 to get tighter this season. With Newsome graduating some of their best players, teams like Bloomingdale and Freedom may be able to start competing for the #1 slot. Bloomingdale looked very good last season and only graduated 3 key starters. Perhaps the gap will begin to close here and end up showcasing a much tighter district playoff. An early matchup against #3 Freedom will go a long way towards establishing the pecking order in this district.

3 – Freedom

Unless something really changes this season, district 14 is Newsome, Bloomingdale, and everyone else. Freedom struggled in 2018, but as we’ve already stated, the door may be opening this season – ready for a new team to step up. TLR is looking forward to a lot more parity in district 14 in 2019.

4 – Wharton

Wharton rounds out our Top 4 in district 14. Wharton and Freedom could both be in the third spot, so expect these two teams to go after each other this season.
